A blend of styles

The first stone of Saint-Remi's Abbey was laid in 1007 and, although this structure was consecrated by Pope Léon IX in 1049, it then had to undergo further modifications in the 12th and then the 16th century before restoration works after the First World War. The architectural style blends the gothic with the Roman, and the edifice as a whole comprises a monastery and a basilica, where Saint Remi rests. The abbey is also home to the Saint-Remi Museum.
A visit at sunset will enable you to appreciate the stained glass windows on the main façade at their very best.
The abbey is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
